Welcome

Symposium on Thermal and Catalytic Sciences for Biofuels and Biobased Products

This symposium has been held every other year following the first symposium held in 2010 at Iowa State University with the goal of focusing on thermochemical biomass research and development and providing early career scientists and engineers an opportunity to present their research and interact with the senior researchers in the community. The 2016 symposium will spotlight recent technical advances in thermochemical biomass conversion to biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower and provide a showcase for energy experts to introduce themselves and their research to the audience to look for unique collaboration opportunities. The technical program on November 1-3, 2016, will feature daily keynote lectures and concurrent oral presentation sessions covering such topics as feedstocks, pyrolysis, gasification, intermediate upgrading, and bioproducts. Poster presentations will be available for viewing throughout the conference and open for discussion during afternoon poster and an extended networking sessions. A tradition at these meetings has been the student poster competition recognizing outstanding poster contributions by undergraduate and graduate students. An optional tour of RTI's Biofuels Research Facilities will be offered on Friday, November 4, 2016. Watch the video below or Click Here for a preview or see the recent piece on UNC-TV, http://science.unctv.org/content/future-fuels.
