The North Carolina Community College System Conference
The North Carolina Community College System Conference Planning Committee for Community Service Opportunity invited each college to participate in the state-wide effort to locally serve their communities. Each college chose their project to meet a local need. The goal was for each community college to conduct their service project between April (National Volunteer Month) and July. Demonstrating colleges as a focal point of community service beyond their educational and workforce missions, forty-three projects served their communities.
As One System of 58 Strong Community Colleges we clearly demonstrated our solidarity of service to North Carolina by participating in the Carolina Panthers, Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children's Hospital "Keep Pounding 5k." The 58 Strong team surpassed our fundraising goal of $2,958 by raising a total of $4,639.01 and exceeded our 58 participants goal by recruiting 64 runners and walkers both in Charlotte and in their local communities.
